5 January Monumet

The monument is located in the Indragiri River, exactly right in front of the Indragiri Hulu Regent in Ahmad Yani street Rengat. The monument was built to memories the event happening Rengat on 5 January 1949 by Netherlands military aggression II. The incident killed more than 2600 inhabitants and in Indragiri River to dispose of, one of which is the father of famous poet Chairil Anwar who at that time served as the Regent of Indragiri named Tulus.

To remember that incident, every year on 5^th January in Rengat always held ceremony to remember that historic days, because for the people in Indragiri Hulu especially Rengat that day it’s really bad memories for them. So, to give respect for the people who become the victim people always held ceremony.

Dodol Kedondong

In Indragiri Hulu there is special snack made from Kedondong, people in Indragiri Hulu call it with dodol kedondong. It is original product from Indragiri Hulu especially in Rengat. Kedondong as special fruit from Rengat, it’s really easy to find in every corner of the city in Rengat. Food made of glutinous rice flour, sugar, coconut and fruits of this blackish-brown kedondong. Dodol has fragrant aroma and taste is not too sweet nor too acidic.

Currently dodol kedondong can be found anywhere. Could be in place by traditional Malay or can directly buy in place of making existing dodol in Rengat. Dodol kedondong also ideal when consumed while being relax gather with family or as a complementary snack accompany with a drink that is frowned.

If you want to know the taste of dodol kedondong you have to visit Rengat, because just in Rengat you may find it. You have to try and taste it, so you will know the deference with the other dodol in Indonesia.
